WEAVE Chat service is not intended for anyone experiencing a suicidal crisis or in need of immediate medical services. If you are feeling like you may harm yourself or others, or you need emergency medical care, please call WEAVE’s Support and Information Line – 916.920.2952 – or dial 911.
This service is free. To keep the service safe and appropriate for everyone, WEAVE has a few ground rules:
• While chatting, please make sure you are in a safe and private area and remember to close the conversation when it ends.
• Do not pretend to be someone else.
• Do not use abusive language, threaten, or intimidate the Chat Specialist or anyone else.
• Do not use chat solely to attack the character of someone else. Truthful statements describing the abuse someone else has committed against you is not attacking their character; calling them names or making false statements about them is a character attack.
• Do not make homophobic or racists comments or engage in hate speech.
• Do not embed material using HTML, including images, sounds or videos.
• Do not send links to any other websites.
• Do not prank chat us. This service is available to people who might be in crisis and prank chats take time away from people who may really need help.
Legal stuff:
If you do not agree to be bound by these rules and terms of use, you are not authorized to use WEAVE Chat and must immediately stop using it. Use of WEAVE Chat is provided solely at our discretion; availability of a Chat Specialist depends on staff scheduling. Conversations may be ended immediately if your chat session breaks our rules. Profiles can be blocked and removed permanently, at our discretion. You understand that we do not incur any liability by doing so. Your records and information belong to you; if you would like a copy of your records, you may request one in writing.
By agreeing to the Terms and Conditions for WEAVE Chat each time you log in, you are agreeing to release WEAVE from all legal claims or causes of action related to your experiences with WEAVE Chat.

Your Information:
A. Automatically Collected and Stored Information
If you do nothing during your visit but log onto the website, we gather and store certain basic, non-identifying information about your visit automatically. We automatically collect and store information such as internet domain; type of browser and operating system used, date and time you accessed the site, and if you linked to the website from another website. This information is used to help make the site more useful to visitors, to learn about the number of visitors to the site, and the types of technology visitors use. We do not automatically track or record personally identifiable information about website visitors.
B. Voluntarily Provided Information by the Visitor
We do not collect personally identifiable information unless you voluntarily provide it to us when you log on to WEAVE’s Chat. If you provide your telephone number or other information for contact or other use by the Chat Specialist, this information will be stored in your client record by WEAVE. These records are maintained in a separate, secure database unrelated to the Chat program.
C. Privacy and Security
We take your privacy and security very seriously. Security controls, including encryption and authentication, are in place to ensure as much as possible the protection of your information once WEAVE receives it. Any information provided by you or collected regarding you will only be intentionally shared or disclosed by WEAVE in accordance with applicable Federal laws and/or state laws and regulations. However, WEAVE cannot control whether your internet access is secure. If you are using a computer, or connected to a wireless network, that you do not control, it may be possible for other people to access the information you share on WEAVE Chat or the fact you used WEAVE Chat. By entering this site, you expressly acknowledge and agree that neither WEAVE nor any of its representatives are responsible for the security of your personal information while it is being transmitted to us.
D. Interaction with Minor Children
No personally identifiable information is collected from child visitors unless voluntarily submitted as part of a request for information or services. The information supplied is used to respond to the visitor’s inquiries or to provide services requested by the visitor.
E. Third Party Websites and Links
WEAVE Chat provides links to mental health services located in various communities with the goal of helping families find the resources they need to resolve mental health issues. Our provision of links on the website does not constitute endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation of the information or services found on any of these third-party websites. WEAVE Chat makes no guarantees as to the accuracy or quality of the information found on third party websites. Should you choose to rely on any information located on these third-party websites, you do so at your own risk.
F. Changes to Terms and Conditions
WEAVE Chat may from time to time make additions or alterations to these Terms and Conditions. These changes will be displayed here and will be effective once posted. We ask that you check these Terms and Conditions regularly.
G. Liability of WEAVE, Inc. for WEAVE Chat
WEAVE CHAT DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESSED, IMPLIED, OR OTHERWISE. YOUR USE OF THE WEBSITE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. IN NO EVENT SHALL CRISIS CHAT OR ANY OF ITS REPRESENTATIVES BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, INCIDENTAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, PERSONAL INJURY/WRONGFUL DEATH, LOST PROFITS, OR DAMAGES RESULTING FROM LOST DATA OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) RESULTING FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE WEBSITE OR THE CONTENTS, INFORMATION OR SERVICES AVAILABLE ON OR THROUGH THE WEBSITE.
Your participation in WEAVE Chat is not medical care or treatment. Neither WEAVE, Inc., nor any of its representatives, are responsible for any decisions or results of the decisions that you make while, as a result of, or after participating in WEAVE Chat. This includes whether you choose to seek or not seek professional medical or psychiatric care, or to modify or terminate specific treatment that you currently are receiving based on the information provided by this service. If the Chat Specialist concludes that you are at imminent danger of harming yourself or others, the Chat Specialist will request your contact information (i.e. telephone number and/or address) so they can attempt to provide you with additional assistance, including sending local emergency services to you. As a visitor, you may refuse to provide this information. If however, the Chat Specialist still believes you are at imminent danger of harming yourself or others, they may use other information available to them (e.g. your IP address) to help local emergency personnel locate you to provide you with further assistance.
WEAVE Chat makes no guarantee that the website will be free of viruses, spyware, or other destructive material, and is not liable for any damage to any hardware or software device, or for any inconvenience or difficulty, caused by use of this website.
Your sole remedy against WEAVE Chat or any of its contractors, agents, or representatives for dissatisfaction with the website or any content thereon is to stop using the website.
H. General
These Terms and Conditions represent a complete agreement between you and WEAVE Chat in respect of your use of this website and its content.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held to be unenforceable for any reason, that provision shall be severable from, and shall not affect the implementation of any other terms and conditions, which shall remain in full force and effect.
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the United States of America and the State of California. Any action arising from the use of the website shall be brought in the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County of Sacramento, or in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California.
